I found this among notes that Lois HOUCK MCNAMARA wrote about family history. 'Carey HOWARD was 12 years old when the first train came into Forestville and he went to see it by horse and buggy. It was a great thrill, many [people] present. They lived on Walnut Creek Road where Al Schroeder now lives.' possibly written in the 1970's. Obituary. 'The death of Carey HOWARD, a much respected resident of this place, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Della PALMER, of Arkwright, on Sunday, June 5. The funeral was held in the Abbey school house on Wednesday afternoon ... Internment in the Abbey cemetery. He leaves a wife, two sisters, Mrs. e.H. Ticknor of Cherry Creek and Mrs. Charles SAGER of Stockton; two brothers, Elgin and Clarence, of Stockton; one son, Herbert of this place; five daughters, Mrs. Clayton HOUCK of the Abbey; Mrs. Della PALMER of Arkwright; Mrs. Hugh WENTWORTH of Hamlet; Mrs. Charles THOMPSON of Arkwright; May, with her mother, also his mother, Mrs. Welthy HOWARD, who is 82 years old, of Stockton.
