Carolyn was a very generous soul. She provided for other people all the time to the point where she did not own much herself. She was a recovered alcoholic and gave generously of her time establishing of Alateen in Houston where she was on the board. She participated in social activities with AA and was a rehab counselor for the State of Texas. She was a very good mother-in-law to me. She tended to marry often, twice to Eddie, twice to Robert and quickly divorced Jake and only married him once. Ron loved her banana pudding that she frequently brought to him. When she was in her 80's she developed Alzheimer's disease. We encouraged her to live on her own in the Woodlands with assistance from Home Health care. She stopped driving when she got lost, had a couple of accidents and put deisel gas into her car causing engine damage. When she started losing weight due to forgetting to eat, we moved her to Edenbrook Assisted Living Center near us. She lived there about 2 years becoming more childlike before needing to enter a nursing home for her health problems. She had a massive stroke while sitting at the nurses station. She was conscious at first but then slipped into a coma and died about 3 weeks later in a hospice.
