  2. St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, Courthouse. Succession Record.

In the succession papers of her grandfather Henry Rentrop, she was listed as a resident of Mobile, Alabama. However, by 8 Jul 1835 Caroline is back in St. Mary Parish to see to the execution of his estate. Although separated from her husband Maxil Bourg, of the Parish of Assumption, she was "authorised and assisted in these presents by her said husband present and joining in this cut.[?] of the First part."
The Second part consisted of Marguerite Licaire, tutrix of her minor children Sarah or Celeste Rentrop and Henry Maurice Rentrop, and acting for them; also Auguste Rentrop, Terzile Rentrop (wife of Zephirin Theriot), and Elizabeth Rentrop (wife of Benjamin Malbrou) of Lafourche Parish; and Peter Henry Rentrop.
They severally declared that by will the late Henry Rentrop gave legacies to his grandchildren, "thereby ?p-u-ing two of his forced heirs, to wit the said Caroline Rentrop and Peter Henry Rentrop of a participation therein contrary to Law. And whereas the said Henry Rentrop did for a long time previous to his decease [?] lived with and on the plantation belonging to the said party of the third part [sic, meaning Peter Henry Rentrop] And the said parties of the first owed services [?] believed that the said Henry Rentrop during his life time made private donations of property monies rights and credits to the said party of the third part and that he the said party of the third part had in his possession and use other property effects rights and credits other than those placed on the Inventory of the Succession of the said Henry Rentrop dec'd which the said party of the third part utterly denied to be the case. Instead of a law suit, a family meeting was called, and Peter Henry Rentrop agreed to give each of his siblings (or their heirs) the sum of $2,000, to be paid in two installments--in April 1836 and Apr 1837.
