"Carlton Tanner, Former GE Employee, Killed Pfc. Carlton Tanner, 20, General Electric employee in the local plant for several months before enlisting in the Marine Corps in November,1942, has been killed in action in the Pacific Theatre. He is the nephew of Frederick W. Tanner, 65 Commonwealth Avenue. His parents live in Clarksburg where his father Ralph Tanner, has been a town official. He leaves a brother, Howard; his maternal grandfather Frank Wardwell of Clarksburg, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Dora Tanner, of Greenfield.
