Byron E. Dick

  Byron E. Dick, a well-known citizen of Newton died at Bethel hospital at noon today following a short 

illness of pneumonia. Mr. Dick became ill Friday and was taken to the hospital yesterday. He leaves to mourn him wife and two children, Mrs. M. A. Blanchard of Chillicothe, Ill., and Fred Dick, Santa Fe yardmaster at Sand Creek.

  Mr. Dick had been a resident of Newton for many years.  He is especially known in the railroad circles 

here, having served as locomotive engineer for the Santa Fe for forty-two years, a service record unsurpassed in his department. It was not until a few months ago that he retired from this service and was placed on the pension roll of the Santa Fe.

  Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.

Byron E. Dick

  The funeral of Byron E. Dick, who died at Bethel hospital at noon yesterday, will be held Friday 

afternoon at 2:30 at the Masonic hall. The Masons assisted by Rev. C. C. McCoy will have charge of the services. Friends may see Mr. Dick Friday morning between the hours of nine and twelve at the Duff funeral parlors.
