Burl J. Underwood POINT PLEASANT - Burl James Underwood, 76, of Point Pleasant died July 25, 1998, in Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant. He was a retired boat captain for River Division of American Electric Power and a member of Church of Christ. Surviving: wife, Marie Plants Underwood;daughters, Juanita Cooper and Sue Underwood, both of Point Pleasant, Karen Diamond of Pensacola, Fla., Donna Underwood of Gallipolis, Ohio; sons, Merlin of Jacksonville, Fla., Danny of Point Pleasant; sisters, Macel Gandee of Leon, Velma Sargent of Point Pleasant; brothers, Darius of Gallipolis, Dewey and Fred, both of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today in Mount Zion Cemetery, Mason County, with Joel Scott officiating. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. today at Cremeens Funeral Home, Gallipolis.
