Bessie (Rudd) Vest was sweet and soft, and very much her own person. She had a strong will.


It was s struggle to support and raise 6 children--7 with Shirley Maxine who died when she was two years old. But the family never had to do without food during the Depression. Each child had one pair of school shoes a year, along with one Sunday School pair of shoes.


All of the children graduated from high school. Two--Josielle and Arnold--graduated from college.


Documentation: Social Security application show parents as Josephine Dunn and William Thomas Rudd and a certified copy of her death certificate from Arizona.
