Berthilde Ameline La Noux was the only child of Jean Dominique and Sedalise. Her parents died when she was very young and she was sent to live with her Aunt Scholastique, who was married to the brother of Victoire Jacques Gregoire. She was forced to marry him at a very young age. She had only two children with him, Louis Valentine and Marie Valentine, who was my grandmother [i.e., of the person who wrote this note but didn't sign it]. Berthilde died in Maurepas, Louisiana, at the age of 29 of tuberculosis.
