Research Notes

  • cos1776 Note: There are 2 Warner wills in Jefferson County in this timeframe belonging to Benjamin Warner (1820) and an Elijah Warner (1822). Are these men related?
    • Benjamin's 1820 will does not mention Elijah or Elijah's wife (Elizabeth) or children (William and Jane), but his will was witnessed by "William Parady".
    • Elijah's 1822 will does not mention any of the members of Benjamin's family, but he does mention that the land he lived on was leased to him by a "William Paradise".
    • more research is needed
  • Record Loss Jefferson County, Georgia: During the American Civil War, the Union Army's Fourteenth Corp marched through Louisville and defaced, but did not burn, the Courthouse. Sometime during that war the county's deed books went missing.
