    Suggests he was a General in the War of 1812, because there is a flag holder from that war on his grave. Highly improbably however, since he would have been seven years old in 1812. Seems more likely that his father (also interred in this cemetery) was in that earlier conflict. Stone does indicate rank of General, though conflict is not indicated there.
