- Powell, Benjamin - entered service 1776 in Culpeper County, Virginia in 3rd Virginia Regiment; received Pension abt. age 83 in Madison County, Virginia, 1832; Dennis Crow made affidavit then there he entered service 1776 with soldier in 3rd Virginia Regiment, per County Justice of the Peace R. Gibbs; Henry Towles made affidavit there then he knew soldier during Revolutionary War, further Major Robert Powell (no kinship given) & John Wait served in Revolutionary War with soldier, per County Justices of the Peace William Finks & Wesley Fry, & County Clerk of court Belfield Cave; soldier died 2/12/1834; married 6/16/1786 Elizabetyh Green, Culpeper County, Virginia, by Revenend Isham Tatum, per certificate 1840 by that County clerk of court Fayete Mauzy; widow received Pension abt. age 79 in Madison County, Virginia in 1840; resided there 1844 abt. age 82, per County magistrate Robert A. Banks; resided there 1850 abt. age 90. F-W5553, R1962.
