Benjamin Meeker, son of William and Sarah Meeker, was born in the New Haven Colony 17 March 1649. He was a planter and carpenter by trade and built a home on the land at Lyons Farms near Elizabeth New Jersey which his father William had been given as a gift. The home was built around 1677 and remained in the Meeker family for several centuries. Benjamin married Elizabeth Thompson who is said to have been born in 1657. They were the parents of William, Benjamin, Jonathan, Daniel, Samuel, Thomas, and Joseph. Their first child is said to have been born in 1677. Benjamin's will was recorded in 1705.
