"B. C. Knowles, Aged 78, Is Dead Last Thursday just a few minutes after his paper had gone to press, the news came that B. C. Knowles had passed away. While it was generally known that the end must come soon, neverth[e]less the news as a distinct shock fo[r] the community of which he had been a part for so long. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the home, conducted by Rev. Hamrick, and burial was in the Masonic cemetery in charge of the Odd Fellows fraternity of which he was member. B. C. Knowles was born 78 years 4 months and 22 days ago in White county, Tenn. He came to Missouri at the age of 9 years and has been a citizen of this section for all those years. He is survived by a wife, also five children by a previous marriage, three sons and two daughters who are: Ansen and John of St. Francois county and Charles of Colorado, Mrs. Emma Moyers of Marquand and Mrs. Dora Smith of Patton, besides several step-children. The large attendance at the funeral attested the high regard in which he was held by those who knew him."
