Facts and Events
Special thanks to Roy Geesa and Erika Dugger McMahan for data shared on this family.
Benjamin Tarlton Dugger was born ca 1816/17 in Carter Co, TN. He is a proven son of William Dugger (1750-1839) and his 3rd wife Nancy Ann Brown.
Benjamin Tarlton Dugger was named in his father William Dugger's Will of 10 Apr 1839 as "William, David and Tarlton, my three sons." and he was also named as an Executor of the Will.
"Benjamin T. Duggar" obtained a marriage bond on 17 Apr 1840 in neighboring Johnson Co, TN to marry Lucinda Bradly. They married on 19 Apr 1840, in Johnson Co, TN.
He was listed on the 1840 census in Carter Co, TN, apparently with his mother and sisters residing with him. Analysis:
On the 1850 census Benjamin Tarlton Dugger was listed in Carter Co, TN between his mother's household, and his brother William C. Dugger's household.
Tarlton's brother William C. Dugger, applied for a Pension on behalf of himself and his siblings, as heirs of Revolutionary War soldier William Dugger, their father. Filed 9 Jun 1853 (# R 3109), he named the surviving heirs of William, and included Tarlton as "Benjamin T., age 37," which in 1853, puts his birth at circa 1815/1816, which is in close agreement with other sources.
Apparently Lucinda Bradley Dugger died between 1850 and 1856, for on 11 Jul 1856 "Tarlton Dugger" obtained a marriage bond in Carter Co, TN to marry Eleanor W. Campbell (listed as "Elena W. Campbell"). They married in Carter Co, TN on 13 Jul 1856.
Tarlton and family were still in Carter Co, TN for the 1860 census. They were in Vermillion Co., IN for the 1870 and 1880 census.
According to the research of Roy Geesa, Benjamin T. Dugger was the proven father of John Rainbolt, born out of wedlock with Nancy Rainbolt. I don't have dates on John Rainbolt, so I'm not sure if this happened while Benjamin was yet married to either of his two wives, or before or after.
