  3. Benjamin was killed in a battle known as Nine Men's Misery, marked by a marker on a monastery where they were buried after discovery of their bodies. However, the battle occurred over several hours and moved as it progressed making an exact location of death hard to pin down.

Interestingly, the marker was placed in 1790 to prevent disinterment of the bodies, at least one abortive attempt led by a doctor apparently curious about Benjamin Buckland's body, "said to be unusually large with a double row of teeth".
