His 4 eldest children were baptised at Newington, the two younger were brought down from Arlington, this being in VT where Benajah settled for a time. Afterwards he moved to Ovid, NY in 1788 and built in 1793 the first mill in that town. He moved from there to Conago, NY and built the first mill there also. He was widely known and highly esteemed as a man of sound judgment and high character.

Was Sergeant in Capt. Elijah Wright's Co. during Revolutionary War, Col. Eno's Reg't on the Hudson, 1781, engaged for three months.
