Date: May 23, 1921 - June 2010

Born Belle Lee Fineman on May 23, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan, she married Seymour Owens in 1941, after attending Wayne State University. The family moved to Beverly Hills in 1948. Belle is preceded in her passing by husband Seymour (2004), and is survived by her children: Paul (Lee), Leon (Mishelle), Madeline (Ken), and Albert; and grandchildren, Michael Wolf (Lisa), Laura Wolf Stein (Josh), Elizabeth and Stacey Owens, and great-grandchildren Kayla and Jillian Wolf. With her husband Seymour, Belle was deeply involved in many philanthropic causes and was honored by the City of Hope, the Junior Blind of America, and the Jewish Home for the Aging for her charitable work. She displayed her love of music by creating the American Youth Symphony Affiliates in 1969 and by being a catalyst for the American Israeli Cultural Foundation. She was a consummate classical pianist and enjoyed holding recitals in her home and inviting world class musicians to practice there. Belle was an avid golfer and the family is very proud of her two holes-in-one. To donate to the Belle Owens Music Fund in her memory, please contact the American Youth Symphony at (310) 470-2332. Memorial Services were held at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010; Rabbi Geller presided.
