Facts and Events
Name Barnabas Seabury
Gender Male
Birth[1] 15 Dec 1698 Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States
Death[2] 15 Dec 1698 Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States

The records pertaining to this child are very confused, but since the child clearly seems to have died in infancy, getting the exact right resolution is only desirable, but not critical.

A previous daughter is reported as born and died on "14 Feb 1697". Typically, using the old style calendar, this would be interpreted as 14 Feb 1697/98, which is incompatible with another child being born on 15 Sep 1698.

A second child born 15 Dec 1698 is also incompatible with a birth 15 Sep 1698. Despite being an unnamed child, there is no corresponding death date for this child.

It seems there are two possible scenarios:

1) The previous daughter is indeed born 14 Feb 1697/98. Barnabas' date is reported wrong and should be 15 Dec 1698. He is either a twin and both twins died in infancy (a common occurrence), or the report of a daughter is an error, and he is the only child actually born on this date.

2) The previous daughter is actually 14 Feb 1696/97, 11 months following the previous child. Barnabas' birth and death on 15 Sep can then be taken as accurate, and the reported birth of an unnamed daughter on 15 Dec 1698 with no matching death date is completely erroneous, probably a mis-recording of Barnabas.

The first scenario, assuming twins, was used in creating this page. A serious researcher should inspect the original records to see if this confusion has been created by the loss of context when the records were transcribed and sorted.
