Barbara was a brunette with very dark hair (with not a grey hair found at the time of her death), rather short, stocky - not the tall Nordic type. Her eyes were probably very dark brown tho not black. It was said of Barbara Adney, by her grandchildren, that at the age of sixteen, the time of her marriage, she did not know as much as "yes" or "no" in English. Yet somehow John Adney and she managed to understand each other. Barbara was about 15 years and 11 months old when she married John. Upon the death of Barbara's father, John Lezena/Lazena, she inherited 1/7th of his estate which came to $100. After John's death, Barbara went to live with her son and is listed on the 1850 Gallia Co, OH, census in the home of her son, William Adney, who was living next door to his brother, Jonathan Adney.
