From the Moravian records:

Vol. 3:1290 Feb. 1, 1779. Balthasar, son of the elder Christmann, arrived and wishes to live here [Salem] or in Bethabara; he will transfer his name to Capt. Smith's Company, and will send a certificate to the Captain at Haw River showing that he has enlisted here. We will speak with Capt. Dobson about this.

Vol. 4:1518 Listed as an arrival in 1780, Haw River

Vol. 4:1609 Nov. 16, 1780. There was a conference with Balthaser Christman, who has asked permission to become a permanent resident of the town. He says that he was born Dec. 9, 1760; that he is here with the knowledge of his father, who is willing for him to remain; that he has given no promise of marriage, has not bought land, nor made any contract which would interfere with his

staying here; and that he has never been drafted for militia service. He believed that he could, and promised that he would,
obey the rules of the community.

Vol. 5:2073 Jan. 24, 1785 The Brn. Stockburger and Balthasar Christmann returned from Reedy Fork, where in their presence their father Jacob Christmann had passed away believing on the Saviour.

Vol. 5:2180 March 17, 1787. Michael Hauser, Sr., of Bethania, brings up the question of a marriage for his daughter, the widow Anna

Margaretha Schumacher; he knows no more suitable Brother to suggest than Balthasar Christmann. The matter will be submitted to Br. Christmann.
Note there is no entry that he refused, but on June 20 he was married to someone else, and Anna Margaretha married Josiah
        Wright as her second husband.

Vol. 5:2198 In the afternoon there was the betrothal of the single Br. Balthasar Christmann and the single Sr. Elisabeth Hartmann, and of the single Br. Heinrich Warnly and the single Sr. Anna Schor.

June 26,1787 The wedding of the two couples took place at six o'clock in the evening. Soon thereafter the married people had a lovefeast for the newly wedded couples; it had been prepared by some of the Brethren and Sisters here.
