    Boudewijn I (Laon?, ca. 840 – Abdij van Sint-Bertinus, Sint-Omaars, 2 januari 879[1]), bijgenaamd Boudewijn met de IJzeren Arm[2] of Boudewijn de Goede[3] staat bekend als de eerste graaf van Vlaanderen.

    Traditioneel wordt de forestier Odoaker als zijn vader gezien, maar Odoaker (als vader van Boudewijn) en zijn voorouders worden tegenwoordig als speculatief beschouwd omdat dit alleen is gebaseerd op teksten uit de twaalfde eeuw.[4] Een andere theorie is dat Boudewijns vader wel Odoaker heette maar een lagere hoveling was.
