Employed as Chief Dyer, American Woolen Mills, Raritan, N.J. Could walk to the mill from his home. The mill received a large contract to makeblankets for the US Army during WWI
Close friends of and neighbors to the Driscoll family, who lived acrossthe street from each other. The Chamberlins lived on Wall Street,Raritan.

Augustus was a staunch Methodist who gathered his family every evening to read to them from the Bible. He had a friend, Byron Woods, who marriedE lizabeth Cotter's sister, Mary.
Someone in the family had been a "Green Mountain Boy" per MDC

Newspaper clipping -- undated "Terrible Burns -- Two men Suffer byAnother's carelessness" Raritan May 15 There was a terrific explosionof gasoline in A. C. Wyckoff's storehouse in Raritan N.J. this morning.A man, after lighting a cigar, threw the still burning match on the floornear a tank containing gasoline. The tank exploded and the storehousecaught fire. Soon after the arrival of the firemen, a second tankexploded, and two firemen, A. H. Coyne and A. J. Chamberlain wereterribly burned by the streams of oil that shot high in the air and thenfell upon them. It is doubtful if they survive their injuries."
