           August Kokal, 72, 552 [sic] South Fairground Street, Marietta, died Tuesday.
           Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church, Marietta, with Rev. James A. Budd officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park.
           He was a native of Blocton, Alabama, and had lived in Marietta for the past 34 years. He was a 1931 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He served as a teacher for Berry College, Rome, and National Youth Administration, Marietta. For 25 years he was director of the Veteran’s Vocational School, Cartersville, retiring 12 years ago. At the time of his death and for the past 10 years he was with the City of Marietta Zoning Appeals Board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Baraca Sunday School Class.
           He is survived by widow, Mrs. Sarah Ross Kokal, Marietta; daughter, Mrs. Ray E. Clifton, Millen; son, Dr. August Kokal Jr, Jacksonville, Florida; sisters, Miss Frances Kokal, West Blocton, Alabama, Mrs. Lewis Hepperman, St Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
           In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cobb County Unit, American Cancer Society.
           The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Wednesday, at the Hay-Gantt Funeral Home, Marietta. [Marietta Daily Journal, May 1977] KF-in-Georgia
  2.   Mr. August Kokal Sr, age 72 of 252 South Fairground Street, SE, Marietta, died Tuesday. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Sarah Ross Kokal, Marietta; daughter, Mrs. Ray E. Clifton, Millen, Georgia; son, Dr. August Kokal Jr, Jacksonville, Florida; sisters, Miss Frances Kokal, West Blockton, Alabama; Mrs. Lewis Hepperman, St Louis, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 11 am Thursday, First United Methodist Church Chapel with remains placed in state at 10 am. Rev. James A. Budd will officiate. Interment Kennesaw Memorial park. Members of the Baraca Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers and will meet with the active pallbearers at the church chapel at 10:40 am.
