Ashcraft Roach (1736-1814/15) of New Kent, Albemarle, and Amherst Counties, Virginia. Ashcraft Roach was a wealthy land and slave owner in Amherst County, Virginia. His first wife was named Mary Magdalene. Some researchers have identified her maiden name as “See,” but we have not yet found documentation of this. Ashcraft provided supplies for American Troops in the Revolutionary War. Ashcraft married (2) Elizabeth Fowler 25 Jun 1789 in Amherst County, Virginia. His children (all by his first wife) are identified in estate papers, marriage records, and deeds in the Amherst County, Virginia Courthouse.
