MCFALLS, ARTHUR: SUMMARY OF EARLY LIFE

Born Bedford County, Virginia, May 22, 1751. McFalls was living in Bedford County, Virginia just before the Revolutionary War. He was a Hunter, Trader, Farmer. He died on 9 Apr 1839 in Grassy Creek, Spruce Pine, North Carolina.

The mother of some of Arthur's children was an Indian named Teek. It was said that the Indians had killed Teek because she was married to Arthur, who was an Indian fighter. Arthur and Teek's son, Edward (Neddy) McFalls, carried a grudge against all Indians because of this.

Arthur was married three times; first to an unnamed lady named who was scalped by Indians. She lived, but was terribly disfigured, and apparently too ugly for Arthur. They had three sons: Abram, Jonah and a third unknown son. Arthur divorced her and married Delilah unknown 27 Feb 1795 in Burke County, North Carolina USA according to published genealogies. They had two children: James Madison and Sally. He lived with an Indian named Teek, by whom he had at least three sons, Isaac, Abraham and Edward.

for Abraham Hiram McFalls. He was married to Emzey Hollifield on May 12, 1814 in Yancy County NC. They had at least one child, Susannah.

    Summary of Military Life

After the Battle of King's Mountain, the Rebel commander, Colonel Campbell, used a North Carolina law as authority to hold court to decide the fate of the Loyalists who had fought beside the British. The results; thirty six Tories were convicted and condemned to hang. Some of the Tories brought to trial were released through intercession of neighbors or acquaintances. Arthur McFalls was one of these Tories released. Others, including Arthur's brother John, were hanged because their intercessors could not convince the court of their innocense.
