A photo of Artemas' shared headstone (with wife Catharine) is available, the inscription reads: "Mr Artemis Rice Died March 13 1797 Aged 61 Years" "Mrs Catherine Rice Died April 30, 1812 Aged 66 Years."
The grave is located in the Whipple ("Old Cemetery") Cemetery on Burrington Road.

  5.   There are two entries in the published VR for the death of Artemas Rice. The first listing 1797 and the second 1801. These entries are suppose to be based on grave markers/records in two different cemeteries. The 1797 date is from the "Old Cemetery" on Burrington Road. The 1801 date is from the cemetery "near the railroad station" (which appears to be accessed from Wells Road).

The burial ground off of Wells Road, is where Capt. Moses Rice and a number of his family are buried. Which leads to questions concerning the origin of the 1801 date. Was there a marker for Artemas there at one time? What information existed in 1917 when the VR was published to indicate Artemas was buried there? Was the 1801 VR information taken from Ward's Genealogical History of the Rice Family (1858) which the published VRs seems to mirror?
