Former Monona Resident Dies

Mrs. Walter Lestina, a resident of Ossian for the last 36 years, died suddenly on May 29, 1975, in the Ossian Senior Hospice. Mrs. Lestina, who had been in failing health for several years, was 65 years old.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. A. Duane Manson in the Ossian Lutheran Church. Burial was in the City Cemetery at Monona with the following as pallbearers: Donald Montgomery Jr., Leroy Lettington, Ronald Blumhagen, Lester Hexsom, Donald Schrandt and Harold Schroeder.

As Miss Arelene Montgomery, she was born at Marquette, a daughter of the late George and Anna (Holly) Montgomery. She spent the early years of her life at Marquette, where she obtained an education by attending the Marquette public schools.

In 1927, she married Walter Lestina in the Lutheran Church in Monona. They established their home at Giard Station and later moved to Bassett. They also lived for several years at Monona before moving to Ossian in February 1939.

Mrs. Lestina had been in failing health for some time and for the last 18 months lived at the Ossian Hospice.

Survivors include her husband; three brothers, John Montgomery of Austin, Minn., George Montgomery Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Donald Montgomery of Monona; and two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Marguerite) Lettington of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Joe (Anna Mae) Daman of Tucson, Ariz.
