Archibald Dixon came to Augusta County, Virginia prior to 1763, when records first document him living in the area. Records in Augusta County recorded his marriage bond on 20 August 1772, but the name of his wife was not included in this record. Archibald appears to have married a second time in Augusta County to Sarah "Sally" Fisher on 13 February 1810, and Archibald is included in the 1810 Census records in Augusta County. Archibald is likely related to John Dixon Sr., also listed in the Augusta County 1810 Census, but additional research needs to be done on this family.
