"Archibald Bell Buried 13 Nov, 1707 Megaberry, Antrim, Northern Ireland"
Taken from deborah@foundout.net "Megaberry is where he is buried. He may not have died there. Family records indicate that Archibald had a strong personality. In 1649 he first went yo Ireland probably as a trooper with Cromwell's army, returning to Scotland in 1650. Soon after the great famine of 1651, however, he moved to Branton, Cumberland (1653). He returned to Ireland in 1655 and farmed on "unforfeited" land. Records show that in 1666 he refused to pay tithes and had taken from him seven sheep worth 14 shillings. He became a Quaker in 1667 and an elder in 1676. He appears to have been a successful farmer. Quaker records (dated 1710) at Lisburn deal with a family dispute over a will. He died at age 87 years.
