Obituary of Anna Cozzens ASKEW:

Born in Bristol, England 1804. Died at age 86, 6 months, 19 days. Lady of great intelligence. Received her education in an aristocratic boarding school. Married in 1828 to Thomas Askew, a young physician. Came to Oswego in 1831. Was intimately acquanited with the Herschell family of astronomical fame, England and as a child seated in the lap of Miss Anna Herschell, was privileged with a view of planets through the great Herschell telescope. Was named for Anna Herschell. Often saw Victoria Guelph, who became Queen Victoria, in company with her mother, the Duchess of Kent. She had a vivid recollection of seeing Napolean. She possessed many books.
