The name Philmore is extremely rare in Wiltshire. The ffilmore line may have come out of Dartmouth, Devon area and one family may have moved to the Lyd iard Tregoze parish in Wiltshire. A will for a Margaret ffilmore in Liddard Tregoze was found in 1670. She mentions a son named Peter ffilmore and godson named Peter ffilmore and a godson John Gleede and a daughter, but no name was given.

While there is direct evidence, this will does tie the only known Philmore family in the area close to Purton parish to the Gleede line. Margaret also proves from her will that she has daughter.

While Ann Philmore who married Richard Gleed does have a son named John, he was born after the 1670 will. We have established a very close relationship among the various Gleed families of Purton during this time period, so that any Gleed mentioned by Margaret ffilmore would have been related to the husband of Ann and thus related to her.

The parish registers for Liddard Tregoze do not begin until 1667, at least 20 years after the expected birth of Ann. Because of the early time period and many gaps in the records, as well as the rarity of the surname Philmore in the area, Margart Philmore must be considered as the possible mother of Ann. Furthermore, with the circumstainal evidence provided by the will tying in the name of Gleed and the mention of a daughter, at this time we are making the assumption this is the ancestral family. Chances of finding any stronger evidence is remote.
