The first time we find him is October 2, 1782, Montgomery County, VA where he purchased 100 acres Middle Fork of the Holston River. In the Census records of 1782, Montgomery County, VA William and Thomas are both listed. In the Census records of 1789 and 1810 he is not listed just his wife Ann. William and Ann had one son, Andrew PATTERSON.
