      In the name of god, Amen: I, Anne Horsfall of the city of Clinton, county of Clinton and State of Iowa being fifty four years of age … :
      Item 1. [pay] all my debts ...
      Item 2. All the rest and residue of my property … unto my son Leonard Horsfall in fee simple to be disposed of as he shall see fit, except as specified in Item 4.
      Item 3. … that my said son, Leonard shall become guardian for my three minor children Fred, Nellie and Benny ….
      Item 4. Whereas I am expecting an inheritance or legacy from my relations in England, now should such expectation ever be realized, I hereby give, … such legacy or inheritance among my children share and share alike intending by Item 2 of this will only to give, bequeath and devise unto my son Leonard the house and lot which I own in Clinton, Clinton County, Iowa and the personal property which I now own without regard to said legacy or inheritance.
      Item 5. I hereby nominate and appoint my said son Leonard as the executor of this my last will and Testament...

    Now on this 15th day of August 1891 is produced an instrument in writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Anne Horsfall late of said county, deceased, whereupon said instrument is publicly opened read and filed by the Clerk of said court who thereupon fixed the 15th day of September 1891 as the day for hearing the proof of said instrument and supposed will at the court house in the city of Clinton, said count and it is ordered that notice of said time and place of hearing be given by publication in the Clinton County Advertiser a newspaper printed and published at Lyons said county three consecutive weeks and that the last of said publications shall be not less than ten days before said day of hearing.

    And now at this day, to wit: the 15th day of September 1891, the application of Leonard Horsfall to prove and allow an instrument in writing bearing date on the 6th day of February A. D. 1891, and witnessed by Elizabeth Bryant and J. H. Walliker as the last Will of said Anne Horsfall deceased, coming on to be heard by the Court pursuant to the former order herein made, Walliker Bros appearing for said petitioner, and it appearing to the Court that due and legal notice of the time fixed by the former order of this Court herein for hearing this application, had been duly and legally given, according to law and the direction of this Court and the Court having heard the allegations, evidence, and the testimony of the subscribing witnesses to said instrument and supposed Will, and being fully advised in the premises, it is found and adjudged by the Court that the said instrument in writing was at the date thereof duly signed and published by the said Anne Horsfall as and for her last Will, and was at the same time duly witnessed by two competent witnesses; that the said Anne Horsfall at the time of signing and making said instrument and Will, was of full age sound mind and in all respects competent to devise real property. It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by the Court that the said instrument in writing is duly proved to be the last Will of said Anne Horsfall deceased, and that the same be and is hereby allowed as the last Will of said deceased, and as a Will of real and personal property, and that the same be recorded as such last Will and thereafter and on the 7th day of October. Leonard Horsfall the person appointed by the said testatrix in her said Will as Executor thereof, and moved the Court that he be commissioned as such Executor. And it appearing to the Court that he is a suitable person for the discharge of such trust, it is ordered by the Court that he Leonard Horsfall be commissioned as Executor of said Will upon his taking and subscribing the oath required by law in such cases and it appearing to the court that he is exempted from giving bond, and thereafter on the 7th day of October 1891, it appearing to the Court that the said Leonard Horsfall had fully complied with the law and the above order he is now commissioned as Executor of said Estate, and it is ordered that he publish notice of his appointment, by posting notices thereof in three public places in Clinton Township and one at the front door of the Court House in said County. Also is issued a commission to appraisers.

  15. Ann's son Robert Bruce Horsfall seems to have had trouble identifying his mother's name, birth date and birth place. At the time of his marriage, he gave her name as Ann Milner. Later in life, he identified her as Anna Battersby, while his Death Certificate identifies her as Ann B. Moody.
