Note: Apparently, Andreis Hanse Scherp came to America in 1660. He is first mentioned in military records as having served at Fort Orange, New York (Albany). He had emigrated from Sweden and was referred to as "Andreis the Swede". It is believed his father was Hans Hanse. There were several Andreis Scherps or Sharps in the Albany area during the late 1600's, so there may be some confusion. Andreis purchased a large parcel of land in Kinderhook and Sharptown, a part of Kinderhook that was founded by members of the Sharp and Best families in 1685. He was a member of the Albany Reformed Church.

According to records of the Albany Reformed Church [1683-1809]--ID 795, a child named Abigael Jacobsz, daughter of Gerrit Jacobsz and Elisaberth, was baptized on 20 January, 1695. The sponsors were Andries Scharp and Aaltje Scharp.

According to records of the Albany Reformed Church [1683-1809]--ID 795, a child named Margriet Albertsz, daughter of Jan Albertz and Geesje Dirksz, was baptized on 22 January, 1696. The sponsors were Andries Scharp and Neeltje Scharp.

According to records of the Albany Reformed Church [1683-1809]--ID 1250, a child named Andries Scharp, son of Johannes Scharp and Geesje Dirksz, was baptized (apparently at Kinderhook) on 5 January, 1701. The sponsors were Andries Scharp and Agnietje Jansse.

Note: on place of death: There were Sherps in the Maryland area at this time, but it is unlikely this Andries Sherp was one of them.
