I am also a decendant of Andrew J. Troup. He was my great great grandfather. My mother was Eileen Troup. Andrew Troup and his wife Hannah Cobb are buried beside each other in the first row of the cemetary in Savannah, OH. I have been there twice while doing some research. Recently I have written for both the military and pension records of Andrew and found that he fought in the War with Mexico 1847-48 and was stationed in Matamoros, Mexico. He became ill with dysentary type problems that he carried with him the rest of his life. Andrew drew a disability pension and eventually it was taken away. Records show his wife appealed several times and the pension was eventually restored. He died quite young but had several children one of whom was my great grandfather Aaron Troup. Aaron married Laura Priest who came from the same area. Her great grandfather, William Priest was from Culpeper, VA and fought with two brothers in the revolution. Aarons son Voight was my grandfather and one of nine children of Aaron Troup and Francie Sheffield and settled in the early 1800's in Emmett County in northern Michigan. That is where my mother was born.

Going back to Andrew, he was the son of George Troup. George Troup lived in Van Wert county Ohio outside of the city of Van Wert. I have been to the library there and found his obit and death record. I am not at home where my records are but I have the names of all their children and have some history as well. Prior to being in Van Wert the Troups lived in Adams County, PA which is where Gettysburg is located. They moved to Ohio long before the civil war. I have seen census and other records that show Troups living in Adams County in the 1820's. George and wife must have moved sometime between the 1830's and 1840's to Ohio but I do not have the complete scenario yet. I do know that at least one of their children moved to Iowa and perhaps more. I have found an account from one of Andrew's sisters that gave some history of the family.
