In April 1781, John’s son, Andrew became the Adjutant of the First Regiment of South Carolina State Troops under the command of Lt. Colonel Wade Hampton. After the war he returned to North Carolina and in January 1786, he signed a security bond in Rowan County for the marriage of his half-sister, Elizabeth Neill.
