Some researchers have confused this Andrew Mitchell with another Andrew Mitchell that was in Augusta County, Virginia in the early 1740's and later migrated to South Carolina abt. 1747. This is a different Andrew Mitchell that migrated from Ireland to Orange County, North Carolina in the abt. 1755.

Classification: Query Surnames: Mary McGowan died 15 Feb 1790, buried North Carolina, Orange Co, New Hope Presbyterian Church Cem (Old Section). Squire Andrew Mitchell died 1795, buried North Carolina, Orange Co, New Hope Presbyterian Church. Most of family moved to Maury Co, TN around 1809. Andrew Mitchell II in NE part of Maury county north of Duck River, and James Mitchell in SE part of Maury county, south of Duck River. Andrew Mitchell II died about 1824; probably Maury Co, TN. Most of his siblings also lived and died in Maury. About 1/2 his family eventually settled in Texas. Andrew Mitchell III died in TN about 1829. His family later went to Texas. Allan
