Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 2, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Elder, Andrew - entered service 1776 in Botetourt County [prior to 1770 was Augusta County], Virginia; born 1748 in Chester County, Pennsylvania; resided after Revolutionary War in Washington County, Virginia, thence to Sullivan County, Tennessee,, thence to Grainger County, Tennessee, where applied for pension 1855 age 85 when resided there for 20 years, & Pension Application Rejected, insufficient proof of service; died 5/30/1834; mmarried abt. 1804-05 to Elizabeth Snyder, widow applied for pension abt. age 80 in Grainger County, Tennessee, 1841 & Pension Application Rejected; widow applied for pension again there in 1852 & Pension Application Rejected; soldier's brother Matthew died in Revolutionary War service & buried at Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
