June 2003: Jillaine found-- in the St. Johns German Evangelical Church Records (Buffalo, NY):

Friedericke Louise JAUCH, b. 3 May 1866; bapt. 2 Jun 1866 Parents: Andreas & Friedericke JAUCH. Sponsors: Johann Jaeckle, Auguste Burghardt.

October 2004: George Richmond found an Andrew Jauch, laborer, living at Monroe between William and Peckham in the 1866 city directory. Not in any other city directory.

In the 1870 Census, Evansville, Indiana: Andreas Jauch, saloon keeper, 34, b. Wurttemberg Mina, 24, b. Prussia Ida, 7 (meaning Mina was 17 at her birth, possibly a second wife?), b. Ind. Mary, 4, b. Ind.

Would like to hope the two Andrews are one and the same, but it's not looking good.

I can't find this family in the 1880 census, and there is no further record of them in St. Johns-- at least in the baptisms section through 1882. Where did they GO?
