The 1850 does verify that Anderson was born while his parents were still in North Carolina, but it appears unlikely Anderson was sure of his birth date. Both a birth date calculated from given age at death and his age on the 1850 census record gives him a birth date quite some time before his parent's marriage.

A timeline of his parent's various locations, based on Jonathan's pension application is available.
