  9. Roy Berg vs Alvina Berg, in Washington, Skagit. Civil Court Records
    File #24088.

The Berg’s were married in Wilmar, Minnesota on 22 February 1922 where they had owned a farm worth $16,000; they arrived in Washington in 1951 and Roy worked part-time for two years until he got a job as superintendent of the dairy barns at Northern State Hospital. They owned 5 acres of land on Cook Road in Sedro Woolley worth about $5,000, having sold another 9 acres for $5,500. They owned 2 cars, a 1949 Plymouth (Alvina’s) and a 1950 Dodge (Roy’s), and one beef cow. They also owned a small business in Sedro-Woolley, the Sedro-Woolley Sewing Center, which Alvina ran; and that there was a loan of $300 to their son-in-law in Ohio so that he could move here. That Alvina was 62 years of age, had a heart condition and low blood pressure, and little business experience; that Roy was “a strong, vigorous man in good health” who loved to dance and still able to pursue his “amorous proclivities”, and that he was unable to account for $28,550 of the family assets.
