Alva Jessie Richey was the first child born to Elijah Truitt Richey and Mary Josephine Anglin in Gilmer, Upshur County, Texas. This was probably on the Crawford Sylvanus Heffner land where E. T. Richey and Mary lived for about a year prior to moving to a farm, east of Pine Forest.

Alva married Joseph Virtrue Post (Joe Post). Mrs. Post was a local correspondent for the old Sulphur Springs Gazette around the turn of the century who wrote under the pen name "Montmorenci".

She died on February 6, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas where she had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Eldred Hertel. She is buried in Pine Forest Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas.
