Alfred was not only a farmer, but was also an inventor. In 1903, he patented a Weighing Apparatus for Grain. In 1905, he filed another patent improving the Weighing Apparatus. In 1907, he filed a patent for a Salt and Pepper Shaker. In 1909, he filed a patent for a Hasp Lock. In 1910, he filed a patent for a Billiard-Cue Tip. In 1918, he filed a patent for a Sugar Dispenser.
