[source unknown]

Alexandr R. Morrow; Alexander R. Morrow, a prominent retired farmer who has been making his home in Greenfield (IL) for the past 16 months died at the home of his nephew, C.N.Morrow, on Thursday, Sept 6,1899, at 6:30pm after an illness of three weeks, following a general breaking down, aged 74 years and 13 days.[7]

The deceased was the son of Jesse and Elvira (Bradshaw) Morrow. He was born on August 27, 1846, on a farm near Athensville, where he grew to manhood and received a common school education. When he was 18 years o age, he assisted his fathe in building a grist mill in Athensville, and at the age of 23 purchased an interest therein, which he continued to run most profitably for about 10 years. He then sold his interest and after living two years in White Hall purchased a 100 acre farm in Rubicon township on which he erectd a fine country home, doing the most of the work thereon himself.

He was united in marriage Feb 9, 1870, to Miss Margaret Scott, a daughter of the late Benj. and Lucinda Scott. Both became members of the Christian church and their home was for many years a happy meeting place for their neighbors and friends. No children were born of the union, but they lived a most happy and contended life at their farm home until the tragic death of Mrs Morrow, which occurred May 9, 1919. Since the death of his wife he has made his home with the nephew, C.N. Morrow, in Greenfield. At the time of his death he was a member of the Christian church at Athensville, which faith he had consistently followed since early life. He was a man of strictest integrity and was respected and honored by a wide circle of friends. He is survived by one sister, Nancy, wife of D.F.King, of Booodhouse, and three brother, Geo. W. and Marshall of Athensville, and Oliver A. of White Hall.

Funeral services were conducted at the Union Christian church north of this city on Sunday Sept 12, 1920, at 11 am by Rev Francis Fowler, of White Hall, and his high standing in his old home community was evidenced by the large congregation that was present to pay their last respects to his memory. The intement was in the adjoining cemetery.
