Facts and Events
Reverend Alexander Thompson MoffatS4 was born into the Christian home of Roger and Elizabeth Moffat on November 3rd, 1912 in Frobisher, Saskatchewan. He very early felt the call of God into the Ministry. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Theology at St. Andrew's College, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon in 1941. On April 28th, 1943, he was joined in marriage to Francis Williamson. Rev. Moffat served as a minister in the United Church of Canada for 26 years, in the Saskatchewan Conference. He was very much loved by the people he served. He pastored churches in the towns of Climax, Dodsland, Tantallon, Loreburn, Creelman, Viscount, Young, Wakaw, and Dana Radar Base, all in Saskatchewan. Part of his ministry was spent serving as Chaplain with the Canadian Army of Occupation in England and Germany during World War II. Most of his life was spent on the Saskatchewan Prairies which he loved. He returned to the University of Saskatchewan and received his Bachelor of Education degree in 1968. He served in the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires from 1970 until the time of his death. During these years, his ministry to others continued. He was always ready to help and counsel anyone in need. He and his wife moved to Grande Prairie in January of 1979 to be near their family. His life and positive example influenced each of his children to attend either Bible College or Christian Education Training Centers. Two of his sons are in full time Pastoral Ministry; <names of living individuals have been removed.> The other son <living,> is heavily involved at his home church ... Rev. Moffat was predeceased by his eldest son, David in December of 1978 Rev. Alexander Thompson Moffat went to be with his Lord shortly after midnight, November 21st, 1981, after a fruitful life of Christian service, having reached the age of sixty nine years and eighteen days.
