Will Book 1, page 204, Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia, Guilford Court House, NC, dated May 16, 1781
"In the Name of God, Amen {guilford courthouse in North Carolina} I, Alexander Crocket^(taylor?) Being weak of body yet of Perfect mind and Memory and calling to Mind the mortality of my Body do Make this Last will and testament - first I recommend my Soul to god that gave it" _____ "I give my Body to the Earth to Be Buried after a Decent Manner" ___"A firm Belief that at the general Judgement it Shall Be Raised again from the grave and then My Soul and Body will be reunited again" ____"Eternity in Praising the Lord - And as for my worldly goods I leave and Bequeath them to my Loving wife Children in the following manner. Viz I Leave and bequeath to My Loving wife one third of all my" ______"Estate and one horse, and Saddle Besides - my Sons Robert and John" ____"them I leave my Lands to be Equally Divided. "At a Court held for Rockbridge County the Second Day of Septr 1784. This Last Will and testament of Alexander Crocket deceased was proved the oath of Alexander Martain one of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to lye for further proof. And at a Court held for said County the 6th Day of July This Last Will and testament of Alexander Crocket Deceased Was ordered to be recorded, it appearing to the Court from the Testimony of Samuel McDowell esq. that at the time of making this Will the decedent was a soldier in the service of the United States, and that he Died in the service and James Crocket one of the Executors therein named personally appointed In Court and refused to take upon himself the Executorship and on the Motion of James Crocket John Cartmill and Alexander Rhea, who made oath According to said certificate.
