"Alexander1 Chalker was born probably in England say 1620; he died at Saybrook, Connecticut, in February 1672/3. He is first known to have been in Guilford, where the records usually call him 'Chauker' and at least once give him the nickname 'Sander' (Guilford Town Recs., A:3). He was one of those administered the freeman's oath at Guilford on 22 May 1648, this formality having been 'neglected' though the men had qualified earlier (Guilford Town Recs., A:29).
