Facts and Events
During the early years of the Civil War, Albinia's husband died and her three sons went to war. She stayed behind and worked the fields, raising corn, potatoes, and sweet potatoes herself. Her son Joseph returned to live with her after the war, and by 1871, she was postmistress at Centerville. She remained postmistress for over 10 years, and she continued to live with Joseph, who ran a grocery store in town.[1] References
