Adrian Ivanhoe Swinger was born 14 February 1912 in Kansas, son of John Emmet Swinger (1892-1971) and Carrie Alvira Black (1892-1962).

Adrian was listed in the City Directory of the Kansas City Kansan in Kansas City, Missouri in 1936 with his wife Vada. He was then working as a "Spoutman", living at 1700 39th Avenue, Kansas City. [A Spoutman was a worker that keept a load (as of grain) level by moving the spout through which the load is being delivered].

Adrian Swinger married Vada Louise Bowers (1913-2008), daughter of John Charles Bowers (b. 1879) and Minnie Mae Hallam (b. 1884) of Illinois. They were likely married in 1932, as they were both listed in the 1932 City Directory of Kansas City Missouri, living at 3825 Troost Ave. [Source: U.S. City Directories, Ancestry.com].

In the 1940 U.S. Census, Adrian (age 28) was living in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. He was listed as Head of Household and living with wife Vada (age 27) and daughter Beverley (age 7). He was then working as a Miller, was renting a home and had completed the 2nd year of his college education. His income in the prior year was listed as $2,040.

Adrian Swinger died on 22 March 1987 in Clinton County, Missouri. He is buried in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.
