Adam Short had a son Abraham,[1] b. before 1760. (He signed an Oath of Allegiance, which meant that he was at least 18 years of age at the time.)[6]

Adam presumably died before 1800. In the 1800 Census, the only Adam Short is between the ages of 26 and 44, too young to have been born in 1723. He could be another son of Adam, or possibly a son of one of Adam's brothers. There is an Adam Short in the 1790 Census with two other adult males (age 16 and over) in the household, but this could be the same Adam Short who appears in the 1800 Census. More likely, Adam is the Adam Short who is listed as a pauper in the 1783 Tax List for South Milford and Elk Neck Hundreds.[5]
